Typography
For this project, I designed a poster for the film Bagdad Cafe, using the movie’s desert setting and style as key inspiration points. I wanted the typography to not only stand out but also reflect the essence of the film—its sense of place, isolation, and the characters that inhabit the story. The final result is a poster that both respects the aesthetic of the film. The process involved a lot of hands-on experimentation with typography and texture to achieve the desired visual impact.

Creation Process
To achieve this, I explored a variety of typography styles that could convey a rustic, slightly surreal atmosphere. By scanning different fonts and experimenting with their forms, I manipulated the text to create a visually engaging title. The bold, reflective typography I ultimately chose mimics the heat and mirage-like qualities of the desert, giving the title a dynamic presence that captures the film’s environment. The letters appear to distort and shift, much like the characters’ experiences in the movie.
Additionally, I incorporated elements from the film’s location into the design. By using colors and textures that evoke the warm, sun-bleached tones of the desert, I ensured the visual language of the poster resonates with the film’s setting. The muted background highlights the vibrant yellow-green title, creating a contrast that draws attention to the text while maintaining the poster’s cohesive feel.
